Why should I have you provide the lights when I can buy them at the store?

If this is your first time using our services, we strongly recommend you use the lights that we provide. Distinctive Holiday Displays not only provides the lights, but all the essential extension cords, photocell timers and any clips, stakes, or ties necessary to properly install the display. When we remove your lights in January, they are yours to keep. In subsequent years, you will simply pay for installation and removal. Your holiday lights are an investment that can last you 3 to 5 years. Please note that each year, you must allow for a 10 percent failure rate on all lights as they are exposed to winter weather conditions.

Do you take the lights down at the end of the season?

Yes, both installation and removal are included in the price. Removals begin January 7 and go through January 31 (weather permitting). No appointment is necessary for removal, as a set schedule is created to ensure that all of our customers' lights are removed in a timely manner. We will contact you 10 to 12 days before your lights are set to be removed.

When should I schedule my installation?

Sooner is better. We begin installing in early October and end in late December. Please note that we respond to submitted quotes extremely quickly.

What areas do you provide service to?

Distinctive Holiday Displays provides service in Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester and in other locations throughout New York and New Jersey. If you live outside of our service area please call us and we will travel to accommodate you.

How much will my decorations cost?

DHD carefully adheres to the budgets set out by our clients. The cost of your display depends on the square footage of your business, the number of stories and where you would like the lights to be installed. Additional decorations such as trees, wreaths, ornaments, bushes, path lighting and interior displays will also factor into the price of your display. We encourage you to use the contact us form to receive a free estimate.

Do you provide the lights or do I?

Distinctive Holiday Displays offers comprehensive holiday packages that includes lights, timers, extension cords, installation and removal. You will be able to choose from a variety of colors and either Christmas lights or Icicle lights. If you already have lights, you may also use them, though we strongly recommend you purchase new lights the first year to eliminate any issues with old, tangled or broken sets.
